Casa 2-6 years

The Casa program at Little House Montessori School is a rich and immersive educational experience designed specifically for children ages 2 to 6. At this crucial stage of development, children are bursting with curiosity, energy, and a natural inclination to explore the world around them. The Casa program provides an environment where these innate qualities are nurtured, celebrated, and channelled into meaningful learning experiences.

Central to the Casa program is the renowned Montessori philosophy, which emphasizes independence, self-directed learning, and respect for each child's unique developmental path. In our Casa classrooms, carefully prepared environments invite children to engage in purposeful activities that support their holistic development across multiple domains: cognitive, social, emotional, and physical.

One of the hallmarks of the Casa program is the use of hands-on, sensory-rich materials that are specifically designed to facilitate learning through exploration and discovery. From practical life activities that promote independence and fine motor skills to sensorial materials that refine the senses and lay the groundwork for mathematical and scientific thinking, every material in the Casa classroom serves a purpose and invites children to engage deeply with their learning.

Language development is a cornerstone of the Casa curriculum, with a strong emphasis on oral language skills, vocabulary development, phonemic awareness, and pre-reading activities. Through storytelling, songs, poetry, and conversations, children are immersed in a language-rich environment that lays the foundation for literacy and communication.

Mathematics and numeracy are also integral components of the Casa curriculum, with materials and activities that introduce concepts such as counting, sorting, patterning, and basic arithmetic operations in concrete, hands-on ways. Through repeated exploration and practice, children develop a deep understanding of mathematical concepts and processes that prepare them for more abstract thinking in the years to come.

In addition to language and mathematics, the Casa program encompasses a rich array of activities and experiences that support children's growth and development in all areas. Cultural studies introduce children to concepts of geography, history, science, and the arts, fostering a sense of curiosity about the world and an appreciation for diverse cultures and perspectives.

Social and emotional development is also a key focus of the Casa program, with opportunities for children to practice conflict resolution, empathy, cooperation, and self-regulation in a supportive and nurturing environment. Through group activities, collaborative projects, and daily interactions with peers and teachers, children develop the social skills and emotional resilience needed to navigate the complexities of interpersonal relationships and thrive in a community setting.

At Little House Montessori School, we believe that the Casa program lays the foundation for a lifetime of joyful learning, curiosity, and exploration. By honouring each child's unique interests, strengths, and developmental needs, we create a learning environment where every child can flourish and reach their full potential. Join us on this magical journey of discovery and growth in our Casa program, where every day is an adventure in learning and wonder.

Upper Elementary
9-12 Years
